We host Baithaks approximately every 6 weeks, as we are a volunteer-run community balancing full-time work while curating each event with care.

We review the open call sheet and curate a balanced lineup of around 8 performance slots per event. We include both first-time and returning performers and aim to stay true to the Baithak spirit, with a focus on raga-based and experimental expression. Performers apply through our sign-up form. We review submissions on a first-come, first-served rolling basis.  Selected artists are then contacted directly via email or Instagram with next steps.

An emerging artist is someone who is in the early stages of their musical or creative journey, not necessarily a full-time professional performer, but someone developing their craft. Brooklyn Baithak is designed as an incubator for these artists to build confidence, gain live performance experience, and grow their audience in a supportive community setting.

Yes. We can accommodate groups of 2–4 performers

Each performance is approximately 10 minutes, curated as part of a full lineup. Final schedules are shared with performers a few days before the event.

Our events are intimate and community-focused, with floor seating in traditional baithak style, along with chairs and some standing space. We aim to create a warm, listening-centered environment.

We photograph and film select moments from each Baithak for Instagram and community storytelling, but we don't share full recordings or raw footage. Part of what makes a Baithak special is that you had to be there and we want to keep it that way. That said, we love when the community shares their own moments from the night. We try to reshare as much as we can.

Not currently. Brooklyn Baithak is entirely volunteer-run, including the performances. That said, we make sure artists are tagged and featured across our Instagram and YouTube and we've seen real things come from it. Paid gigs, collaborations, introductions that turned into something. We can't promise that, but we've watched it happen more than once.

Brooklyn Baithak ran on personal funding to get off the ground. Now it runs entirely on ticket sales. Everything goes directly toward venue costs, equipment, and production. Nobody on the team takes a cut. Whatever comes in gets put back into making the next one happen.

Yes. We're always looking for partners who genuinely care about South Asian arts, emerging artists, or building real community in Brooklyn. Sponsorships help us improve production, support the artists who perform and keep ticket prices accessible. If that sounds like you or your brand, reach out on Instagram or email us.

Yes. We occasionally host select vendors that align with the spirit of Baithak. If you’re interested in showcasing your food, art, or products at an event, please DM us on Instagram to connect and learn more.

Once we reach capacity, we unfortunately cannot accommodate additional guests due to venue limits 

Brooklyn Baithak events are alcohol-free. Occasionally a venue may have a bar on-site but it is not part of the Baithak experience.
